TV tonight: The last 'Last Resort,' 'Glee'
Posted January 23, 2013
Last Resort | ABC, 8 ET/PT
Because final episodes draw so much attention and discussion, we sometimes forget that most series never get the chance to plan and produce an actual wrap-up-the-plot finale. Most shows just stop - particularly shows that are canceled in their first season. Which is why fans of ABC's sub series Last Resort, while no doubt upset over the show's cancellation, should at least be happy that the network has given Resort this unusual last chance to tie up its plot. As for what that tie might be, it starts with a battle for control of the submarine.
Glee | Fox, 9 ET/PT
Sadie Hawkins Day dances (those affairs where girls ask the boys out) may be fading in real life, but it seems somehow appropriate that they continue to thrive as a plot point on Glee, seeing as the tradition was created by a comic strip, Lil' Abner, and set to song and dance by the musical of the same name. Who knows, maybe the kids will do The Matrimonial Stomp in Abner's honor.
Beauty and the Beast | CW, 9 ET/PT
This romantic fantasy returns from its winter break with a new crisis for the beastly Vincent: His former fiancée, who thought he was dead, has seen and recognized him. Though how she recognized him is a mystery, seeing as he sports a strategically placed scar that - in the everyone-is-beautiful world occupied by the CW - was enough to convert him from hunk to beast. Imagine if he breaks a nail; he'd have to be quarantined.
